My Name is Amy and I am a 22 year old female from Auckland New Zealand. I have a bachelor in Civil Engineering Technology and I work in the construction industry in Auckland building bridges! I had a very athletic up bringing however in my adulthood I have gained more weight than I should have and I wish to return to my former athletic physique. You can read more about my story so far here. I have started this blog for a couple of reasons:

  1. Accountability: This blog is helping me keep accountable for my actions. I treat it like a diary and even if nobody reads it, it keeps a record of my journey so that I can look back and be proud of how far I have come.
  2. To share my experiences: In my weight loss journey I have always found reading about the success of other people very intriguing. I always stalked around the Success Stories forum on myfitnesspal.com and fantasised about what my post would look like. I also don’t think there are enough blogs out there about the raw detailed experience. People don’t post enough photos of themselves when they are fat and unhappy. They just save them until the big success story reveal. I want to share my raw experience in the hopes of inspiring others. Trust me I really don’t want anyone I know to see the fat photos that I put on here, but if they do oh well, hopefully I will inspire at least 1 person in the process.
  3. Learn from others: I know a lot of things but I don’t know everything. I love learning, I am a knowledge thief, a sponge! Give me all your knowledge, your experiences your recipes, and successes. I would love to hear from anyone just drop me a comment!

I have recently started living a much healthier life style and am currently following the fast metabolism diet by Haylie Pomroy. I will use this diet until I have achieved the body I desire and then continue living by the principals for the most part in maintenance. Don’t get me wrong I’m going to have chocolate again. It’s just not my focus right now 🙂

Love the idea of sharing to keep you caring in this fantastic goal – I’ve been recently diagnosed with a benign tumour that needs to come out so I’ve been pursuing greater heath and the ‘perfit’ body for the past 12 months myself – it’s great to see others getting somewhere with some real effort leading to great effect 🙂

  3. Thanks for such an awesome blog! I’ve been so bummed about since I also lost ~1.8kg/4lbs the first week and then….nothing. This is almost the end of week 3 and the scale has actually gone UP. Started at 70.3kg/155lbs and now am usually 68.9/152lbs when I wake up. But……because of your blog and seeing that you also had slower drop vs. the people online that brag about losing a lot every week. I realized yesterday that while my numbers may not be very impressive, I have muscle definition like I haven’t had since high school when I used to work out 2-3 hours a day!! Eek! So excited! So people on the internet, don’t get bummed out about the numbers, just keep doing your thing and you will see results, even if the scale isn’t moving!!

  4. I am so excited to start this diet. I am a Kiwi who has been living in Canada for 15 years. I have had life changing illnesses and in the process have gained over 50 pounds. I need something to bring me back to where I used to be. I am planning on starting in a few weeks (after my vacation) and want to be prepared. I love your tips and tricks!!

    1. Good luck! Remember depending on your diet history to date the 1st two weeks may be hard and you may feel tired and cranky but just stick with it, keep it simple and plan ahead. It is definitely worth it.
